Julie Hankins was appointed to the Olympia City Council in January 2012 and was elected to a full, four-year term in 2013. She holds a degree from Seattle University and currently works at NOVA Middle School. She has been a part of the Olympia community for 25 years. In the 1990s, she formed the Indian Creek Neighborhood Association, and with other neighborhood leaders from Olympia, formed the Coalition of Neighborhood Associations. As a City Council member, she is chair of the Land Use and Environment committee and the Lodging Tax Advisory committee, and serves on the Community and Economic Revitalization and the Thurston 911 Communication (TCOMM) committees. She also is the city’s liaison to the Planning Commission and Coalition of Neighborhood Associations.
