Tye was elected as Thurston County Commissioner and joined the LOTT Board in 2019. Tye has lived in Thurston County for more than a decade and served as a Commissioner on Thurston County’s Water Conservancy Board between 2010 and 2013. He holds a degree in government from Harvard College and a law degree from the University of California at Berkeley. His legal career of more than 20 years has included commercial and intellectual property litigation, criminal defense, and family law. During the early part of his career, he spent seven years in northern Alaska with the Alaska Public Defender Agency. Tye joined the law firm of Morgan Hill in Olympia as an associate attorney in 2007, while continuing to provide legal services to indigent citizens through Thurston County Public Defense.
